Managing. Delivering. Restoring.
Dedicated to creating a healthy landscape that provides landowners, communities, fish, and wildlife the ability to thrive through collaborative actions and water resource management.
Our Purpose
Spanning from Sacramento to Redding, the Sacramento River Settlement Contractors (SRSC) are a non-profit partnership of 135+ agricultural- and municipal-based senior water rights holders. We are focused on protecting and preserving our members’ water rights which were established prior to construction of the Central Valley Project (CVP) and Shasta Dam.
-
The contracts in place with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation identify how much water our members can divert from the Sacramento River each year, and are a fundamental operating component of the CVP and statewide water system.
In addition to supporting communities and agriculture, SRSC is intimately involved in creating and restoring critical habitat for our native fish and wildlife which depend on a vibrant Sacramento River Basin.

Our History
The Sacramento River Settlement Contracts involves some of the oldest water rights in California, tracing its roots to the late 1880s. The first settlers in the Sacramento Valley began using water from the Sacramento River to irrigate farms across the region. Individual property owners, irrigation and reclamation districts, and mutual water companies throughout the region were established and granted water rights on the river prior to 1914.
